M...Kate - I went to RWA last time it was in Dallas. My debut novel came out that very week but I didn't sign books because the print copies would not have made it there in time. However, I went to the signing and it was overwhelming as most of you know. Over 200 authors in one giant ballroom. Crazy. Insane. JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Nora's line were like miles long. Some poor authors sat there twiddling their thumbs. It scared the wits out of me. I was very glad I didn't do the signing. I think I'd want to go slit my wrists afterwards or something. I think new authors should take it slow, baby steps. Just my two cents.

Mark - Tee hee....some book signings are very cool so I hope I didn't shatter all your dreams. BTW, Santa is real and so it the tooth fairy. The Easter Bunny is not. His head comes off. I saw it for myself when I took my kids to see him last year. Very disturbing.

Oh Nancy!!!! You had me laughing out loud! I'm glad your mom is okay. Can I take her to some of my signings?

Sierra - Wish you could be here this Friday tasting wine with me. We'd have a blast!

Tierney - It's very nerve wracking to me. I had this lady come up to me at my last signing and ask the stupidest question ever. "Is this book good? Are you a good writer?" What???? "No, lady. I suck. This is a terrible book. Don't buy it." See why I need to drink alcohol at these things?Alishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03344425510934073606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419252667281484963.post-89791543996347906692009-03-25T09:46:00.000-05:002009-03-25T09:46:00.000-05:00So funny! My mother-who has dementia-went down the line and told every one of those authors I was the best writer there and their books were boring...

At which point I had to smile, and whisper-"She has a brain tumor." Oooh...

Good luck with your signing!!

(No worries on my mom, she's alive and happy, she's just a bit "touched.")Nancy J. I mean, I thought it was all champagne and caviar and millions of adoring fans clambering to get my book signed.

*sigh*

Another dream shattered. I've done literarcy signings at RT two years in a row. I haven't done one at RWA yet, as they seem to frown on letting those authors who are with small presses sign at the literacy signings. I might try to this year in D.C. If not, I'm going to set up a table and chair outside the door to the signing room and do cash transactions. -It would serve them right for being so damn picking about who they allow into the "big room."

-KateKathleen Scott/MK Mancoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14872072913152568070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419252667281484963.post-61648228564100800252009-03-24T12:16:00.000-05:002009-03-24T12:16:00.000-05:00Oh yeahhhhh...all that bango pickin'...we kept loo...Oh yeahhhhh...all that bango pickin'...we kept looking at each other...hey at least the food was good. We scarfed it down and high tailed it outside. Remember the looks we got? As if..why would anyone leave this festival of music from the Ozarks? You're right though, it was fun hanging out with you all day. We'll have to do it again soon! xxoooo...thanks for stopping by, honey!Alishahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03344425510934073606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419252667281484963.post-53843628930353691582009-03-24T12:09:00.000-05:002009-03-24T12:09:00.000-05:00Ahhh my darling best friend! At least we got to hang out! That part was FUN. Remember the bar-b-que luncheon with the "downhome music"??? We were sitting with the geriatric crowd as they GOT DOWN to the bango-pickin' and we tried to plan our escape.

We MUST do it again though. In another venue, of course.Regina Carlyslehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06316730032624449669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6419252667281484963.post-63759725830204964832009-03-24T11:23:00.000-05:002009-03-24T11:23:00.000-05:00Tee hee...thanks, Debra!
