"Excuse me!" he said behind me.
I turned toward him. "I don't have any money," I said since I always get asked for money in that neighborhood.
"No. I don't want money. I just want to give you this." He held out the cutest pink fluffy stuffed animal. The tag says it is a Love Bug.
"I said I don't have money," I said instead of taking the stuffed animal from his outstretched hand. He held the Love Bug closer to me.
He smiled. "I don't want your money. Here."
I thanked him as I took the Love Bug and turned toward my work again.
A few hours later my coworker came into the office and mentioned the same guys outside. I showed her the Love Bug because it made my morning.
Well, a short time later the area where the guys had been was blocked up with crime scene tape. The intersection was blocked by police. My boss had watched a guy get hit by a car. The car had hit him so hard that he practically bounced off the car's windshield. The description fit that of the guy who gave me the stuffed animal.
It might not have been the same man but I have a feeling it was the same man. When I left work the man's friends were still there but he wasn't.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my story. Talk you later,
